Solutions: Australia's largest hardware supplier
Problem Domain: The largest computer hardware supplier
in Australia needed to integrate its client ordering
system with inhouse inventory system so as to streamline
the process of order booking and real time inventory
control, also a part of its stock belonged to a third-party
hardware vendor. Hence it was necessary to cross link
the respective vendors ERP system with the proposed system
so that a weekly stock update could be send back to the
vendors. Also new products from the vendor could be introduced
through this update.
Analysis: After careful analysis of the problem and
the existing IT infrastructure, it was decided to implement
the solution in Lotus Notes. Since the client already
had a Lotus Domino Notes server, it was expected that
acceptance of this solutions was maximized.
Solution: Lotus Notes R5 was used to develop the solution
and access was restricted to Lotus Notes users. A web
interface was also developed with product catalogue and
multiple shopping cart system for different product categories.
The system also integrated with the third party ERP system
and updated the inventory list.
Technology: Lotus Notes, Windows 2000 server, javascripts,
lotus scripts.
