Solutions: pMACS (Purchase Monitoring Administrative Computerized
Solution)
Problem Domain: One of the leading cable manufacturing
company in India was looking to integrate their corporate
office with the company's factory at the outskirts of
Kolkata, India and its Head office at Kolkata, India.
There was a crucial need for cost monitoring, real-time
analysis of landed cost, proper inventory management
and maintenance of all financial transactions from this
cost-centre.
Analysis: In order to provide integrated solution to
the company's need, the pMacs was proposed, developed
and implemented. The application takes care of planning
to production to RM purchase (with various lookups for
best potential purchase in imported goods). This application
also takes care of different stages of RM procurement
and RM utilization patterns of all consuming department.
Solution: J2EE was used to develop the solution and
access was restricted to company's departmental intranet
user. A web interface was also developed to communicate
with external actors such as shipping agent, registered
vendors and transporters. All other important and function-critical
areas of the unit e.g. requisitions, indenting, inventory
management, indent tracking, enquiry generation, quotation
tracking and best order scenario generation on the basis
of landed cost, London Metal Exchange Rate monitoring
and fluctuation impact analysis, import order shipment
and customs clearance tracking, Letter of Credit requisition,
vendor bill registration, vendor registration and vendor
rating as per ISO norms etc. are controlled within a
secure intranet network. The client being ISO certified
all ISO specific events are monitored and ISO reports
generated.
